Thousands to Join ‘No Kings’ Rallies in Southern California

44 minutes ago 0

On Saturday afternoon, thousands are expected to participate in ‘No Kings’ rallies throughout Los Angeles County and Southern California. The rallies aim to boost voter turnout for the upcoming November 3 election.

In the South Bay, around 50 protesters formed a neat column as they marched south along the boardwalk connecting Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. Amid this, regular beach activities continued unperturbed. A beach volleyball tournament featured teams in Halloween costumes, while a poodle wore booties to shield its paws from the unusually hot pavement. A man, seemingly in distress, talked to himself about religious themes.

The group, small and sociable, gathered for a group photo at Hermosa Pier. On a count of three, they all shouted, ‘VOTE!’

This marks the fourth event in the series over the past year. Each rally promoted different causes, including protests against President Trump, Immigration and Customs Enforcement activities, the conflict in Iran, and rising costs of gas and food.

The ‘No Kings: Vote Early’ event is seen as the next step in reclaiming power after a year of widespread mobilizations. It aims to promote nonpartisan voter participation, fostering community, and ensuring every voter is prepared to make their voice heard, according to the No Kings coalition.

Numerous rallies and marches are planned across Los Angeles and Orange counties, with some starting as early as 10 a.m. In downtown Los Angeles, protestors will gather at Gloria Molina Grand Park at 1 p.m. and march until 5:30 p.m.

The Los Angeles Police Department warned that the day’s ‘non-permitted’ events might impact traffic. A post on X advised caution on Spring, Los Angeles, Aliso, Commercial, 1st, Temple, and Alameda streets.
