Tragic Killing of Musician and Family Near Mexico City

A tragic event unfolded outside Mexico City, where a musician, his pregnant wife, their 3-year-old daughter, and the family’s nanny were found fatally shot. The State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office reported the discovery in the Zona Esmeralda area, Atizapán de Zaragoza. A 6-year-old boy was found unharmed at the scene.

The victims included a 38-year-old music producer and composer known by the initials J.S.M.O., his 35-year-old pregnant wife, their young daughter, and a 21-year-old woman. According to a statement by the Prosecutor’s Office, two individuals were discovered bound. They, along with the 3-year-old girl, had suffered gunshot wounds to the head. The fourth victim was shot in the back.

Authorities suspect the crimes occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 1, between 5:30 and 7:40 p.m. Two men, Diego Sebastián “N” and Gerardo “N,” were arrested related to the case.

The band Camilo Séptimo’s keyboardist, Jonathan Meléndez, was identified as one of the victims. His death was confirmed by the band on Instagram, stating, “We will always remember Honas with immense love and gratitude.”

The motive for the killings remains undisclosed. One suspect had a “relationship of trust” with the victims, implying this connection was exploited to access the residence.

Omar García Harfuch, the secretary of security and citizen protection, confirmed that authorities worked swiftly to arrest the suspects. Harfuch stated that the institutions acted immediately given the crime’s severity. The two suspects now await justice.
