Troye Sivan Embraces Solitude in New Album

1 day ago 0

Troye Sivan’s latest album, Something to Give Each Other, marks a significant evolution for the Australian singer-songwriter. Released in 2023, this album features hits like “Rush” and “Got Me Started”. These singles gained viral fame and led to Sivan’s first Grammy nominations. The popularity even inspired a spoof involving Timothée Chalamet and boygenius on Saturday Night Live.

Following the album’s success, Sivan embarked on the “Sweat” tour with fellow artist Charli XCX amid the buzz surrounding “Brat” summer. Despite the excitement of this period, Sivan reveals it didn’t fully capture his emotional state as he transitioned out of his 20s. His subsequent album, She’s the Best, provides him the space to explore more profound emotions.

In a conversation with NPR Music reporter Isabella Gomez Sarmiento, Sivan shared insights on his latest work. He discussed his tribute to the influential women in his life and his shift away from producing pristine pop music. This new project aims to convey genuine feelings, resulting in what he describes as an “unsexy” album.

The podcast episode featuring Sivan was produced by Noah Caldwell and edited by Hazel Cills. Jacob Ganz serves as NPR Music’s chief editor, while Suraya Mohamed is the executive producer. Sonali Mehta holds the role of executive director. NPR+ offers support for public media, providing benefits such as bonus episodes and ad-free listening.
