Trump Acknowledges Mutual Espionage Between US and China Amid Iran Satellite Imagery Report

2 weeks ago 0

President Donald Trump addressed the sensitive issue of international espionage, noting that China spies on the United States as much as the United States spies on China. This came after a revelation regarding Chinese entities supplying Iran with satellite imagery before a missile attack that resulted in the death of three U.S. troops.

While speaking to journalists on Air Force One, Trump responded to questions about a Wall Street Journal report alleging that Chinese entities provided Iran with detailed satellite images of Muwaffaq Salti Air Base situated in Jordan prior to the missile attack on July 17.

“They basically do what we do,” Trump stated, acknowledging the reciprocal nature of espionage activities between the nations.

When questioned about addressing this issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his impending visit to the U.S., Trump remarked that Xi has “behaved reasonably well,” stating, “we behave reasonably well” also.

“You know what they say? That China spies on us. I say you’re right, and we spy on them, too,” Trump affirmed.

The Wall Street Journal cited U.S. officials linking Chinese-sourced imagery to the Iranian strike on the Jordanian base, marking a significant piece of evidence showing Chinese support for Iran had lethal outcomes for American forces.

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Washington is scheduled for September 24 for a summit with President Trump. The report clarified that U.S. officials did not divulge the identities of the Chinese entities involved nor did they accuse Beijing of direct participation in the attack.

The White House has yet to respond to a request for comment, as noted by Fox News Digital.
