A shooting outside a gay bar in Tucson, Arizona, is being investigated as a hate crime after the suspect was found with a note listing several LGBTQIA+ associated businesses, according to authorities.
The suspect, Ousman Ceesay, aged 44, shot two people in the parking lot of Venture-N shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Monday, the Tucson Police Department reported in a news release.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered all three men had sustained gunshot wounds. The victims, identified as 42-year-old Vincent Anthony Siqueiros and 33-year-old Cameron Davis Capara, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Ceesay was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after arrival, as stated by the department.
Initial evidence indicates that Ceesay confronted the victims in the parking lot before the shooting took place.
Authorities stated that there is no ongoing threat to the community. However, police presence has been increased at other LGBTQIA+ businesses in the area.
The investigation continues to unfold.
