Smooth Transition for Ty Kennedy
After transferring from Crown Point in Indiana, junior tight end Ty Kennedy successfully integrated into the Mount Carmel football team, a squad already filled with seasoned players. Kennedy describes the transition as seamless, thanks to the culture he embraced at Mount Carmel. He noted the excellence of the team environment, highlighting the support from his teammates and coaches.
“The culture here, you just have to buy into it. This place is great. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Teammates, coaches,” Kennedy shared.
Emerging as a key player, Kennedy made significant contributions during a game against Marist. He recorded four catches for 66 yards, including two touchdowns, helping his team secure a 56-26 victory.
Key Performances in the Match
Quarterback Brady Cloherty was exceptional, completing 18 of 33 passes for 295 yards and five touchdowns. The Caravan, boasting a 4-0 record, finished strong by scoring 28 points in the last eight minutes, pulling away after Marist closed in at 28-20.
“Our thing was to start fast and I don’t think we did that,” Cloherty stated. “Once coach Lynch really got into us, we started to put the ball in the end zone.”
Teammates such as Marshaun Thornton, who achieved four catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and Nathan Samuels, a recruit for Lindenwood, who ran 112 yards, contributed to the win.
Developing Team Chemistry
Both Kennedy and Cloherty transferred to Mount Carmel this year, which fostered a strong bond between them. They learned the play system together and developed impressive on-field chemistry.
“When he came in, he wanted to learn the offense right away,” Cloherty remarked. “I was learning as well, so every day we’d go learn the offense together, run routes and build chemistry.”
Kennedy, a versatile athlete who also plays basketball and lacrosse, credits these sports for improving his performance in football.
A Promising Future
Coach Jordan Lynch appreciates Kennedy’s contributions, highlighting the gradual integration of Kennedy into the offensive system. Kennedy is gaining recognition from college scouts, with visits lined up, showcasing his appeal to higher-level teams.
“We’re slowly starting to incorporate him. He’s slowly starting to learn the system. He’s getting better every week,” Lynch noted.
Kennedy’s commitment to his sports is evident, and his talents offer Mount Carmel an added advantage against opponents.
