Universal Studios Hollywood Debuts Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Coaster

3 weeks ago 0

Universal Studios Hollywood unveiled its new high-speed roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, this week. Despite rumors suggesting a delay, the ride is now operational after much anticipation. Known for its intensity, the coaster can reach speeds of 72 mph and features vehicles capable of rotating 360 degrees. This makes it the fastest coaster designed by Universal Creative, which handles theme park experiences for the company.

Currently, the ride has not officially announced its grand opening date. It is in a phase of ‘technical rehearsals’, similar to a soft opening. This means visitors should be aware the ride might not be operational at all times. Technical rehearsals are crucial to ensure that once the coaster opens formally, there are no prolonged issues or downtime.

Visitors eager to experience Hollywood Drift should be prepared for potential closures until the official opening is announced. It is advisable to wait for this announcement if riding Hollywood Drift is essential to your park visit. An official date is expected within weeks.

The coaster is situated on a challenging slope between the park’s upper and lower levels, enhancing its uniqueness and complexity. The location itself, though not initially ideal, contributes to the ride’s dynamic nature.

Community feedback has been mixed, with some Toluca Lake residents expressing concerns over noise from the coaster during testing phases. Resolution of these community issues remains to be seen, adding another narrative to Hollywood Drift’s debut story.

Riders can expect a fast-paced experience with multiple loops and detailed, uniquely designed mini cars, although the speed may leave little time to appreciate these details.

The coaster is considered one of the significant attractions opening in North America in 2026, marking the end of about a decade of development.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios prepares for Halloween Horror Nights with a fresh haunted house concept. The event starts on September 3, featuring an original storyline in a maze called ‘Dead, Deader, Deadest.’

Additionally, Disney fans have an opportunity to participate in the Disney Experiences Auction, offering rare Disneyland artifacts, including a piece from the Haunted Mansion.

On an economic note, a new agreement between Walt Disney Co. and Kraft Heinz brings more Kraft products to Disney’s U.S. theme parks and cruise ships.
