Recent research highlights a significant increase in skepticism among voters who supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. The Institute for the Study of Modern Authoritarianism (ISMA) conducted a recent survey, capturing this trend among Harris voters.
According to the survey, a notable 69% of those who voted for Harris in 2024 expressed strong agreement that certain American elites prioritize their own selfish interests, negatively impacting individuals like them. This represents a 10% increase from the 59% recorded in the previous 2024 poll conducted before the election.
ISMA, the publisher of The UnPopulist, focuses on defending liberal democracy against authoritarianism both in the United States and globally. The organization’s consistent tracking of populist attitudes provides valuable insights into voter sentiments.
The survey underscores a growing cynicism among Harris supporters toward perceived elite-driven injustices. Despite the rise in cynicism, no significant changes appeared in other populist attitudes tracked by the survey.
