Wall Street Awaits Earnings and Jobs Reports

2 weeks ago 0

Corporate earnings from major U.S. companies and significant jobs reports are pivotal for Wall Street this week. These updates aim to provide clarity on household spending habits amidst persistent inflation.

On Monday, Clorox, known for bleach and household products, and hotel operator Marriott International will announce their latest earnings. SpaceX, Elon Musk’s satellite and rocket company officially named Space Exploration Technologies, is set to release its earnings on Tuesday. SpaceX launched its market debut in June. Since then, the stock has seen fluctuations, rising above and later falling below its initial price.

Tuesday will also see McDonald’s reporting its earnings. Online travel company Expedia Group is scheduled to release its earnings on Wednesday. Over half of the companies within the S&P 500 have shared their latest results, showing robust profit growth. Major indexes have consistently reached new highs this year. These earnings will help assess whether the rising stock values are justified.

Wall Street will also analyze several economic reports this week. Key updates on the U.S. jobs market are on the agenda. The report on job openings for June will be released on Tuesday. The crucial monthly employment report for July will come out on Friday.

“Employment remains a strong aspect of the U.S. economy,” a spokesperson noted. “However, job growth is decelerating amid inflation concerns affecting households and businesses.”

Employment trends are a primary focus for the Federal Reserve. The central bank considers these trends when reviewing and deciding on any interest rate policy changes.
