Warmington Secures Democratic Nomination in NH Amid Controversy

3 weeks ago 0

Cinde Warmington has been nominated as the Democratic candidate for New Hampshire’s gubernatorial race. Her nomination comes after running unopposed.

Warmington’s candidacy has faced scrutiny due to her previous work as an attorney for Purdue Pharma. The Republican Governors Association (RGA) has criticized her connection to the company, which gained notoriety for developing OxyContin.

The RGA stated, “Based on her role in fueling the opioid epidemic and calling OxyContin a ‘miracle drug,’ Cinde Warmington is completely disqualified from being governor.”

Warmington has countered these allegations, stating her involvement with Purdue was minimal. She released a video addressing the accusations and shared personal experiences related to the opioid crisis.

In her prior political career, Warmington served on the New Hampshire Executive Council, representing the state’s 2nd district. She ran for governor in 2024 but lost to Joyce Craig, who later lost to Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte.

Warmington’s current campaign emphasizes reducing the cost of living and holding Republicans accountable for affordability issues. Her platform includes resisting Trump’s immigration measures, regulating data center construction, and promising to cut taxes.

Warmington will now challenge Ayotte in the general election on November 3.

Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte defeated Joyce Craig in 2024 with a 53.6% to 44.3% margin.
