Weekend Observations and Experiences

It feels like the height of summer across the U.S. as the new week begins. The sun is shining, but smoke fills the air. This week, only two NFL teams start their training camps. Here are some weekend observations to get the week rolling:

Verizon Experience

This past Saturday, I spent nearly four hours dealing with Verizon. My son, referred to as Screencaps III, is in need of an Apple Watch as his social activities increase. The debate on kids having devices is ongoing, but we need a way to communicate when he is in places without home phones.

Upon visiting a Verizon store, the sales numbers increased our “Services & Perks” by $70. My questions about the increase went unanswered, so we left. At home, I contacted Verizon and spoke with Richard. Though he couldn’t confirm the reduced per phone charge I aimed for, he did find and apply a small discount to my son’s Apple Watch plan.

Later, speaking with Jana, the issues were resolved in about 25 minutes. The new charges were clear, and the $45 per line adjustment was confirmed via email.

Thoughts on Phone Insurances

I discovered Verizon’s $68/month phone insurance policy, which seems an excessive charge including unnecessary perks. It’s time to stop getting overcharged.

I made a vow to avoid Verizon stores after multiple unsatisfactory visits over the years. The company has changed significantly from what it was 20 years ago.

On Ray Lewis and Tom Brady

I find it questionable that Ray Lewis is training for a potential career in MMA. It’s a risky choice.

Regarding Tom Brady, his involvement in WWE seems imminent, likely tied to impending financial deals.

Thoughts on Sports Events

The recent British Open was largely forgettable, overshadowing more dramatic past events. Golfers should face challenging weather in Scotland, and Rory can look forward to his summer break.
