4 weeks ago 0

More than 115 million people are facing exposure to hazardous smoke and unhealthy air quality levels caused by widespread wildfire smoke. This concerning situation has prompted health advisories in at least 17 states, spanning from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic.

The thick smoke has disrupted daily life, resulting in flight delays and the temporary closure of public spaces such as pools and beaches. Many outdoor activities have been canceled as authorities prioritize public safety.

Stephanie Sy, a PBS News Hour correspondent, reports on this distressing situation. Her extensive career includes roles as an anchor and correspondent for renowned networks such as ABC News, Al Jazeera America, CBSN, CNN International, and PBS News Hour Weekend. Before joining News Hour, she contributed significantly at Yahoo News, where she anchored coverage of the 2018 Midterm Elections and reported on Donald Trump’s victory party during the 2016 Election Day.
