On Tuesday, a man was shot and killed during a child custody exchange in a Home Depot parking lot in Covina, according to police reports. The incident took place around 6:06 p.m. on Badillo Street.
Police arrived after receiving a report of a shooting. A large group had assembled for the custody exchange. An initial investigation revealed that an argument erupted between two men involved in the exchange. As the argument escalated, one man brandished a firearm and shot the other.
First responders attempted to save the victim’s life, but their efforts failed. The man was declared dead on the scene. Authorities successfully detained the suspected shooter without further incident.
The Covina Police Department continues to investigate the situation.
