Texas Tech’s Brendan Sorsby’s announcement to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft has stirred discussions in the football community. Historical analysis of supplemental draft picks reveals players who significantly impacted the NFL.

Notable Supplemental Draft Picks

Cris Carter – Philadelphia Eagles

Carter was a fourth-round selection in the 1987 supplemental draft. He delivered an impressive career and earned a spot in the Hall of Fame. Playing for teams including the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins, Carter was chosen for eight Pro Bowls from 1993 to 2000. His accolades also include first-team All-Pro honors in 1994 and 1999.

Bernie Kosar – Cleveland Browns

Kosar was a first-round pick in the 1985 supplemental draft. His 12-season career, largely with the Browns, was marked by a Pro Bowl appearance in 1987 and four seasons exceeding 3,000 passing yards. Kosar’s career stats include 124 touchdown passes.

Jamal Williams – San Diego Chargers

Drafted in the second round in 1998, Williams had a successful career of 13 NFL seasons. A two-time first-team All-Pro in 2005 and 2006, he made three Pro Bowl appearances. Williams tallied 443 tackles, 55 tackles for loss, and 13 sacks, mainly with the Chargers, concluding with the Denver Broncos.

Josh Gordon – Cleveland Browns

Gordon, chosen in the 2012 second round, began with standout performances, recording 137 receptions, 14 touchdowns, and over 2,400 yards in his first two years. Despite a promising start, his career halted due to suspensions for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, impacting the 2015 and 2016 seasons.
