At home, as she prepared to insert her print, she noticed another picture behind the original. This hidden piece was a lithograph of George Washington, dating back to 1864 during the Civil War.
An avid collector, Ramsdell consulted friends and researched online, finding the lithograph could fetch over $500, vastly outstripping her initial investment.
She speculates about how the lithograph remained concealed, possibly due to the original owner’s passing or an unknowing donation.
