Jorge Messi, the father of renowned soccer star Lionel Messi, passed away at a hospital in Rosario, Argentina, at the age of 68. The news was shared by Club Atlético Newell’s Old Boys, which mentioned that he had been undergoing treatment for an unspecified illness.

The club praised him as a pillar who supported his son’s career with vision and care, alongside his wife, Celia Cuccittini. The South American Football Confederation, CONMEBOL, also offered condolences to Lionel Messi and his family.

Lionel Messi, who led Argentina to a runner-up finish in the recent World Cup, had expressed emotions on the field, attributing his tears to personal reasons.
