Michele Tafoya, a former NFL sideline reporter, secured a significant victory in Minnesota’s Senate GOP primary. She defeated both Adam Schwarze, who had the backing of the state Republican Party, and Royce White. Tafoya will compete against Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, a Democrat, in the general election. Flanagan beat Minnesota Representative Angie Craig in the Democratic primary.

Michele Tafoya was born on December 17, 1964, in Manhattan Beach, California. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Tafoya began her broadcasting career with CBS Sports in 1994, covering college basketball. She remained with CBS until 1999.

Tafoya transitioned to ABC Sports and ESPN in 2000, working as a sideline reporter for Monday Night Football during the 2004 and 2005 NFL seasons before the show moved to ESPN. From 2006 onwards, she continued in this role and also covered the NBA.
