Among the primary challengers, Independent candidate Bill Hill is leading for the state’s solitary congressional seat. Initially, Democrat Matt Schultz, a pastor from Anchorage, was ahead of Hill in the polls. However, Schultz later withdrew and showed support for Hill, according to local reports.
The primary results will allow the top four candidates, regardless of their political parties, to proceed to the general election. The polls are scheduled to close at 12 a.m. EDT on Wednesday.
