The Nancy Grace Roman Telescope is named after NASA’s first chief of astronomy and one of its pioneering female executives, Nancy Grace Roman. This telescope is almost ready to launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
After its assembly in an expansive clean room in Maryland, the telescope was transported to Florida by barge. It is now securely placed inside a 230-foot-tall rocket. This marks a critical step in preparing for its journey into space.
Once launched, the telescope will travel to a position nearly a million miles from Earth. Its mission will enhance our understanding of the universe, continuing Nancy Grace Roman’s legacy in astronomy.
