Justin Rose found himself struggling during the final round of the Tour Championship on Sunday. However, everything changed dramatically with a single swing on the ninth hole, a par 3. At 2-over par for the day, Rose seemed far removed from contention in this season-ending PGA Tour event. Armed with a six-iron, he executed a perfect shot on the 208-yard hole.
The ninth hole presented a significant challenge with a substantial water carry. This daunting feature did not disrupt Rose’s focus. His precise strike sent the ball straight into the cup, marking a rare and remarkable hole-in-one.
Upon witnessing this feat, Rose celebrated by raising his arms and mimicking the ball’s swift descent into the hole. Unfortunately, his momentum slowed, and he bogeyed the following Par 4 tenth. Despite this, the hole-in-one remained a notable highlight of his day.
Interestingly, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler nearly achieved a similar success moments before, landing his shot within three inches of the cup on the Par 3 second hole. Earlier in the year, Rose secured the 13th PGA Tour victory of his career with a dominant performance at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he led the field by seven shots.
Looking ahead to the 2027 season, the 46-year-old Rose aims to further bolster his career achievements, particularly by vying for a spot on the European Ryder Cup team in Ireland, aiming for his eighth appearance in the biennial competition.
