TJ Watt’s Response During Steelers Game Sparks Conversation

2 hours ago 0

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt expressed visible frustration during the team’s Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns. Video footage captured Watt communicating strongly with Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. Watt grabbed a headset on the sidelines, presumably to discuss strategies with Graham.

Some observers interpret Watt’s actions as showing disrespect towards Graham. However, former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger believes Watt has earned the right to critique Graham’s defensive tactics openly. Roethlisberger shared his thoughts on the topic during his podcast, Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger.

When it doesn’t happen that often… When TJ Watt grabs that thing, it’s probably like, ‘Okay, something is going on,’ Roethlisberger remarked. He noted that Watt’s actions indicate something significant given his rare public outburst. If he does this every week, it would be like, ‘What are we doing?’ He has got every right to do it. He’s a leader, he’s a captain. I assume he’s a captain, he should be. If not, he’s a Hall of Fame guy making plays.

Roethlisberger pointed out Watt’s leadership status and impact as justification for his public criticism. Watt’s responses, while causing discussions, seem to have earned him the understanding of former Steelers greats, such as Roethlisberger.

The Steelers defense, led by Watt, aims to regroup for Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts enter the game with consecutive wins over the Houston Texans and Washington Commanders.
