On Sunday, Democratic Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois and his family were at a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois, when a mass shooting attempt occurred. The suspect, believed to be a white supremacist, allegedly targeted Indian Americans during this time of worship.
Rep. Krishnamoorthi spoke about the incident on Thursday, expressing gratitude for the safety of his family and the community. The event highlights ongoing concerns about targeted attacks on ethnic and religious groups.
Earlier, in a separate interview, Krishnamoorthi had been seen alongside Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates during a House Oversight Committee session on Capitol Hill in June of the same year.
