Vanessa Trump, the former spouse of Donald Trump Jr., revealed in an Instagram story on Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. In her post, she shared, “I want to share a personal health update. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.”
The 48-year-old, a mother of five, expressed gratitude to her medical team, saying, “I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me. I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me.” She requested privacy, adding, “Thank you for your kindness and support it truly means more than I can express. I kindly ask for privacy as I focus on my health and recovery.”
Newsweek requested comment from the White House on Wednesday night.
Messages of Support
Ivanka Trump, Vanessa’s former sister-in-law, offered her support in response to the Instagram post, stating, “Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama.”
This diagnosis comes following her boyfriend, golfing legend Tiger Woods, returning from a rehabilitation stay in Switzerland. Woods faced charges related to a car crash in Florida, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Family and Background
President Donald Trump introduced Vanessa to Donald Jr. at a fashion show. They married in 2005 and divorced in 2018, sharing five children: Kai, 19, Donald III, 17, Tristan, 14, Spencer, 13, and Chloe, 11. Kai has gained attention as a social media figure and golfer.
In a Mother’s Day post, Kai praised Vanessa, saying, “Happy Mother’s Day to the best Mom I could ever ask for. I’m so thankful and lucky to have you in my life. Thank you for always supporting me and loving your 5 kids. You are such an amazing Mom and we are all so lucky to have you. I appreciate you more than anything ❤️”
Chief of Staff’s Diagnosis
Additionally, Trump’s Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, announced her own breast cancer diagnosis in March. In a post, she shared, “Last week, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks. I am grateful to have an outstanding team of doctors who detected the cancer early and are guiding my care, and I am encouraged by a very good prognosis. I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House Chief of Staff.”
