Palisades Village Reopens After Devastating Wildfire

Nineteen months following a destructive wildfire in the Pacific Palisades area, Los Angeles residents are welcoming a positive milestone. The affluent Westside neighborhood, known for its luxury retail and dining options, is marking the reopening of Palisades Village on August 15.

Palisades Village, a 100,000-square-foot complex featuring over 40 upscale boutiques and restaurants, will celebrate the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, shopping activities, tastings, and various family-friendly events.

“The way we reopen is a sign throughout the city that’s suffering, showing our resilience,” Rick Caruso remarked during an earlier tour of the property. “We’re on a mission to bring back this city.”

Rick Caruso, a prominent figure in Los Angeles and the founder of the real estate company Caruso, has been active in recovery efforts following the fires. Despite the fire lasting over three weeks in January 2025, Palisades Village remained mostly intact but closed for extensive smoke remediation and rebuilding, costing approximately $100 million.

The surrounding downtown area suffered significant damage, with local businesses and structures reduced to ashes. Caruso’s focus on recovery emphasizes the importance of ensuring the complex is clean, safe, and free from toxins. He noted the comprehensive rebuilding efforts, including environmental testing.

Since its inception in 2018, Palisades Village has been a popular spot for Hollywood celebrities and locals alike. Its reopening includes both legacy and new businesses. The Netflix-run Bay Theatre and Jennifer Meyer Jewelry, known for its celebrity endorsements, will return. New businesses like an American grill led by chef Timothy Hollingsworth and Nancy Silverton’s Italian chophouse, Spacca Tutto, will debut.

Traci Park, LA City Council member for the 11th District, emphasized the significance of this reopening for spurring economic recovery in the area. Jacqui Irwin, Assemblymember for District 42, shared similar sentiments, highlighting the importance of restoring a community space for residents.

Corinne Verdery, CEO of Caruso, described the reopening as a “meaningful milestone” and a testament to the resilience of the business community.

For Rick Caruso, the venture is deeply personal. His family was significantly affected by the wildfire, losing several homes. The reopening of Palisades Village represents an important chapter in the recovery story of Pacific Palisades.
