The fiancée of Brandon Clarke, former Memphis Grizzlies forward, expressed her sorrow in a heartfelt message after his tragic passing. Clarke was 29 years old.
The Memphis Grizzlies and the NBA shared news of Clarke’s death last week. He was found deceased at his residence near Los Angeles with drug paraphernalia present, as reported by The Associated Press. Authorities confirmed he had died on-site.
Amber Lorraine, Clarke’s fiancée, posted a touching tribute to him on Instagram, recounting his significance in her life. “There are no words to describe this feeling,” she wrote. “I never thought I’d have to live life without you.” She described Clarke as “the most special person, with the biggest heart” and lamented their unfulfilled wedding plans. She recalled the joy of their engagement as the happiest day of her life.
The Memphis Grizzlies issued a statement recognizing Clarke’s influence both on and off the court. “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the team noted. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.” They extended condolences to his loved ones.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also commented on Clarke’s death. “We are devastated to learn of the passing of Brandon Clarke. As one of the longest-tenured members of the Grizzlies, Brandon was a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Brandon’s family, friends, and the Grizzlies organization.”
In past events, Clarke encountered legal issues in April. He had been detained in Arkansas facing charges related to speeding and possession of a controlled substance. His legal troubles included charges of improper passing, possession, fleeing, exceeding speed limits, and drug trafficking. Clarke was scheduled to appear in court last week.
