Ravens’ Trade Deal for Maxx Crosby Collapses, Trey Hendrickson Joins Instead

1 month ago 0

The Baltimore Ravens made significant waves in the NFL offseason by initially agreeing to trade two first-round draft picks to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for star edge-rusher Maxx Crosby. This move was expected to shake up the league.

However, the situation took a turn when the Ravens backed out of the trade. Reports indicated that Crosby did not pass his physical examination, leading to the reversal of the deal.

In response, the Ravens quickly signed Pro Bowl defensive end Trey Hendrickson. This contract was substantial, valued at $112 million over four years, leading many to speculate that the Ravens were attempting to recover from their previous decision.

Crosby had initially requested a trade earlier in the offseason, fueling expectations of lingering tensions. Yet, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, Crosby’s situation has defied those predictions.

“Crosby is working out independently and skipping Las Vegas’s offseason practices. Nevertheless, league sources report he is committed to his recovery and making substantial progress,” wrote La Canfora.

Friends of Crosby within the league say he remains highly motivated to deliver an outstanding season despite the trade fallout. It was noted he wouldn’t have been cleared for football activities by the May Organized Team Activity practices.

The assumption that the Raiders would quickly seek another trade after Crosby’s expressed desire to move no longer holds. Current sentiment suggests Crosby will remain with the Raiders, fulfilling his four-year, $116 million contract, which includes an option for termination after the 2027 season.

An anonymous NFL general manager shared insights with La Canfora, stating that it seems unlikely Crosby will be moved before the deadline: “He’s going to start the season there, and he’ll probably play his [expletive] off. They might get some calls, but I don’t think he’s getting moved now. I kind of think that ship has sailed.”
