The co-hosts of ‘The View’ engaged in an on-air debate over whether Democrats should support Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, despite his multiple controversies.
Sunny Hostin expressed her concerns about Platner’s character and moral suitability to challenge Susan Collins in the Senate race. Hostin remarked, ‘Yesterday, I was sort of on the fence,’ but emphasized that Democrats must take control of the Senate and House to restore normalcy in government. She concluded, ‘If I lived in Maine, I would hold my nose and I would pull that lever and vote for him.’
Sara Haines strongly disagreed, asserting that voters must consider political tribalism and basic standards of integrity. She highlighted, ‘We have too many crappy people with no character, no integrity in D.C. And if we are going to say ‘Donald Trump is a problem…we can’t plug our nose and send someone there that’s an antisemitic person, racist, bigoted, sexist.’ Haines emphasized her discomfort with endorsing candidates lacking in decency.
WARREN CONFRONTED ON CALLING CONTROVERSIAL SENATE CANDIDATE GRAHAM PLATNER HER ‘KIND OF MAN’
Alyssa Farah Griffin lamented the current political climate, describing it as having extremists on both sides. She emphasized, ‘There is enough time for the Democratic Party to field a better candidate.’ Co-hosts suggested the Democrats should improve their candidate selection process.
Graham Platner, the Democratic nominee in Maine’s Senate race, faces scandals such as sending explicit messages to women and bearing a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol. Whoopi Goldberg reflected on the political landscape and suggested, ‘There has to be people out there who have not been accused of wearing bad tattoos or feeling up people.’ She called for voters to demand better from their candidates.
Goldberg noted, ‘Yes, we’re all flawed,’ yet emphasized the importance of making informed choices. Hostin reiterated her stance, while Griffin advocated for holding all candidates accountable for their past actions.
Fox News Digital attempted to contact Platner’s campaign but did not receive a response. Story tips can be sent to Alexander Hall at Fox News Digital.
