1 hour ago 0

Angel Reese shared her critical take on her performance during the Atlanta Dream’s matchup against the Indiana Fever. Despite the Dream’s narrow four-point lead at the end of the first half, Reese experienced a slow start, missing her first six shots, including several from close range. However, she played a significant role in the Dream’s 17-4 run closing the first half.

During a halftime interview with ESPN’s Holly Rowe, Reese didn’t hold back her feelings about her initial struggles. ‘I was playing like s— in the beginning, but it’s a game of runs,’ she stated. ‘You’ve got to put that in your back pocket just because you know you have teammates that have your back. Allisha Gray, Madina Okot, Rhyne Howard – they’re carrying us right now.’

Allisha Gray led the team’s scoring effort against the Fever, accumulating 21 points by the third quarter. Meanwhile, Okot offered solid support from the bench with six points, six rebounds, a steal, and a block.

‘Just playing together, playing collectively and let our defense speak for itself,’ Reese added. Despite her poor start, Reese finished the first half with seven points, shooting 3-of-10, and grabbed nine rebounds.

When Rowe asked about the adjustments that led to her improved performance, Reese emphasized patience and self-belief. ‘Taking my time. Woosah. And just trusting my work,’ she explained.

This year, Reese has been a crucial player for the Dream, who currently stand at 21-12. She averages 15.6 points and 12.0 rebounds per game across 32 contests. Reese secured her third All-Star selection in this, her third WNBA season.

The competition against the Fever has implications for first place in the East. The outcome will determine the leader for now.
