August LaBranche Shines in Starting Role for Crete-Monee

46 minutes ago 0

As the senior quarterback for Crete-Monee, August LaBranche demonstrates exceptional skill in his new role. Known for his ability to confuse defenses, LaBranche thrives on creating uncertainty with well-executed plays and strategic misdirection.

Despite a reduction in passing plays compared to previous seasons, LaBranche understands the importance of his performance. He expressed confidence in the new system, stating, We practice it a lot. It’s fun to fake the defense out and it’s really fun to score touchdowns. It’s a new system for me, but as long as we’re winning, that’s all that matters. I’ll adjust to any system I need to adjust to.

LaBranche contributed significantly to the team’s 456 rushing yards during Saturday’s game, as the Warriors secured a 43-6 victory over Bloom in Chicago Heights. He recorded a rushing touchdown and a touchdown pass, further showcasing his capabilities.

Dominic Jackson also delivered an impressive performance, rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries. Additionally, he threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Kamal Bryant and excelled on defense with a sack and two tackles for loss.

Anson LaBranche, August’s twin brother, added a sack, while Jayvien Pearson made an interception for the Warriors. For Bloom, Jovarion Wilson managed a 4-yard rushing touchdown, while Isaiah Dunlap finished with 47 passing yards and 32 rushing yards.

The LaBranche twins have been instrumental in the team’s success, with August appreciating their joint efforts. It’s really amazing, August noted. We have a lot of chemistry, and being out on the field together helps us make plays.

As a senior linebacker and running back, Anson enjoys watching August flourish in the quarterback role. I think he’s doing pretty good with the system he’s in, Anson remarked. He’s adjusted well to the passing game and the amount of motions he does, remembering everything to do. It’s a lot, and I think he’s done a good job with it.

Crete-Monee coach John Konecki shares this sentiment, praising August’s role in distributing the ball effectively. August has done a fantastic job with this offense, Konecki stated. He’s continued to morph into his position. We’re blessed to have a lot of guys who can touch the ball and make things happen.

In the game against Bloom, August ran for a 4-yard touchdown and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Aven Atkins, leading the Warriors to a dominant 43-0 halftime advantage.

On the other side of the ball, Anson excels in both defense and as a blocker on offense. Anson does a great job on defense, and then on offense, he’s a tremendous blocker, Konecki observed. It’s like having an extra guard back there. When he brings it as a blocker, it’s devastating.

Anson seized the opportunity to play Wildcat quarterback, gaining insight into his brother’s perspective. It was fun getting to become a quarterback a bit and seeing what August does, Anson said. August and I have been doing this since we were little kids on the University Park Lions. It’s really fun to do it together as seniors in high school.

Having his brother by his side brings joy to August. Growing up, sometimes we lifted each other up, sometimes we fought, like any other brothers, he reflected. A little bit of everything. But he’s helped me quite a lot. We’ve always gone to the field together, always practiced together. He’s always there when I need him.
