Ben Simmons Hints NBA Comeback with Instagram Post

Former top draft pick Ben Simmons has sparked speculation about his return to the NBA. He posted a cryptic message along with a shirtless photo of himself on a basketball court.

Simmons wrote on Instagram, “I wouldn’t change the story. The highs, the lows, the pain, the time, the lessons. I embrace all of it.” He added, “Every chapter built something in me that I couldn’t have built any other way. Grateful for where I’ve been. Proud of where I stand. Ready for wherever this goes.”

The former Los Angeles Clippers player last appeared in the 2024-25 season, participating in 17 games. During that time, he averaged 2.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists over 16.4 minutes per game.

Simmons, an Australian basketball standout, was initially selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Although he missed his first season due to injury, he earned the Rookie of the Year title in 2018.

By choosing Simmons, Philadelphia passed over notable players like Brandon Ingram, Jaylen Brown, and Jamal Murray, who went on to become All-Stars. Brown and Murray have each secured championships with their respective teams. Murray’s title came in 2023 with the Denver Nuggets, while Brown won in 2024 with the Boston Celtics, where he was named NBA Finals MVP.

Ironic in hindsight, the 76ers recently acquired Brown in a major trade with the Celtics, after bypassing him in the draft a decade ago.

Though Simmons hasn’t secured a championship himself, he boasts three NBA All-Star appearances and has been named twice to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Simmons completed his 2024-25 season with the Clippers and opted for free agency. He did not play in the 2025-26 season. His latest Instagram post hints at a potential comeback, pending a team’s interest in his abilities.
