Bret Michaels Shares Health Recovery Update

Bret Michaels, the musician aged 63, recently provided fans with an update on his health following his disclosure of a kidney stone issue. Michaels turned to Facebook on Wednesday, July 22, to communicate his progress post-procedure for the kidney stone that failed to pass naturally.

He expressed gratitude toward medical staff, stating, “On this Wisdom Wednesday, I learned the importance of gratitude for the healthcare workers—doctors and nurses—who took care of me this week, as my kidney stone, after nearly a week of waiting, would not pass.” Despite experiencing severe pain, Michaels continued to perform in locations including Charleston, WV, Grantville, PA, and a private show at Fairchild AFB in Spokane for veterans and their families.

The day after his third performance, the pain became unbearable, and Michaels was hospitalized since the stone still had not passed. On Facebook, he shared that, “the operation has been completed & I’m out of post-op recovery,” and he aims to recover quickly to return to performing.

“I’m doing everything I can to feel better and continue delivering great shows for my fans once I have a clean bill of health,” he added. Michaels emphasized the importance of family, friends, and healthcare professionals in his recovery journey.

A photo on Facebook shows Michaels wearing all black and a baseball cap, lying in a hospital bed attached to monitors. With humor, he mentioned the hospital forced him into a gown despite arriving from a show.

Fans offered words of encouragement in the comments, with messages like, “Can’t keep a good man down,” and, “Glad you’re doing better, brother.” Initially, Michaels disclosed his kidney stone struggles on Instagram after a performance in Spokane, acknowledging the pain but remaining determined to entertain his audience.
