Bronny James Reflects on New Season with Lakers

3 hours ago 0

Lakers media day often unfolds predictably, with new jerseys and familiar questions. However, this year, at the UCLA Health Training Center, one particular chair at the podium drew significant attention.

Entering his third season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Bronny James faces a new reality. His father, LeBron James, has transitioned to the Philadelphia 76ers as a free agent this summer.

During a session at the Lakers’ training facility on Monday, Bronny spoke about carrying his well-known name. According to a shared moment by ClutchPoints on social media, he stated, “You guys know me as Bronny. My real name is LeBron. I’ve been doing this for however long, so I think it’s a motivating factor for me just getting up every day and trying to prove myself as Bronny instead of LeBron.”

Reporter Jordan Richard provided a clip from the Lakers’ initial practice of camp, showing Bronny was the last player to leave the gym. This image complemented his comments during the media session.

The absence of LeBron has noticeably altered the atmosphere in the building. Bronny acknowledged this difference, focusing his attention on his responsibilities with the Lakers. The schedule highlights a significant matchup on Christmas Day, where the Lakers will face the 76ers in Los Angeles.

Bronny’s journey began with earning valuable playing time last season. He participated in 42 games, achieving an average of 2.9 points in less than nine minutes per game. His three-point shooting improved to 38.6%, showing clear progress from his first year.

Despite his growth, competition for minutes remains challenging. The backcourt features Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, adding to the roster’s depth. Bronny remains determined, approaching the season with an aggressive mindset and readiness to meet the team’s needs.
