During the second half of the Indiana Fever’s victory over the Atlanta Dream, Caitlin Clark appeared different. She revealed to reporters after the 83-71 win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse that she vomited during halftime.
“I haven’t puked that much in a really long time,” Clark shared via ESPN. “But then I felt fine. I felt light. So, I was running around feeling good in the second half, but [I] feel OK. Obviously, I’m losing my voice a little bit. But I’ll be good.”
Despite her illness, Clark delivered an impressive performance with 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. She also matched her WNBA record by becoming the fastest player to achieve 150 points and 50 assists in a season, a record she set last season.
The Fever’s victory was crucial. Head coach Stephanie White and Clark gained attention following a viral video of a heated sideline exchange. The win ended a two-game losing streak and pushed their record to above .500 at 5-4.
Clark mentioned that the team reflected on their performances to find improvement opportunities. A lot of people have called and asked me how I am, and I said, ‘What do you mean? I’m great,’
Clark stated. I think a lot of self-reflection from everybody (this week), like look yourself in the mirror and find ways to get better. That’s certainly what I did.
Clark aims to recover fully as the Fever prepare to face the New York Liberty, hoping to maintain their positive momentum.
