Caitlin Clark’s Eventful All-Star Weekend

Caitlin Clark experienced a remarkable weekend, beginning by meeting former President Barack Obama and concluding with a standout performance in her first traditional All-Star Game. Sponsor events with Nike, State Farm, and Wilson were a notable part of this weekend, drawing hundreds of fans eager for a high-five, autograph, or a brief encounter with the Indiana Fever star, many donning her No. 22 jersey.

Clark expressed her excitement at the Wilson event where she introduced her new basketball line. “I never want to take for granted All-Star weekend,” she said.

Previously, Clark missed last year’s All-Star Game in Indianapolis due to an injury. Her rookie season in 2024 was marked by a competitive game featuring the U.S. Olympic team against the WNBA All-Stars. The game carried an extra edge as many believed Clark deserved a spot on the Olympic team for Paris. “Any time you get to put on a uniform and play an All-Star Game is really special,” she stated, noting the unique experience it was for her.

Clark made an immediate impact in Saturday’s game, thrilling the record All-Star crowd of 19,783 at the United Center. She scored her team’s first eight points, which included a steal leading to a layup and one of her trademark deep 3-pointers. She later sank a deeper 3-pointer that would fit the 4-point spot, a feature removed from this year’s game to her regret. Despite missing the bonus point opportunity, Clark helped lead her team to a 129-122 victory, keeping in mind Obama’s advice, “don’t lose the joy.” She felt nervous when meeting Obama, asking for a photo, a request she often encounters.

Post-meeting Obama, Clark attended sponsor activities, including participating in WNBA Live, a fanfest filled with sponsor exhibits. At State Farm, she took part in a musical chairs shooting game with hundreds of fans observing. Clark then became a hype woman for several girls competing in a similar contest, with the winner receiving a pair of her shoes. She also visited the Nike girls basketball tournament, supporting her former AAU team, the Iowa Attack.

The weekend also featured a visit to Wilson to unveil her new basketball line. For these days, Clark enjoyed the game without the external pressures she’s faced since joining the league in 2024.

Now, Clark returns to regular play as the Fever face off against Seattle on Tuesday.
