A tragic incident in Savonburg, Kansas, claimed the life of a 4-year-old child last Thursday. The child died after being electrocuted by a clothes dryer, according to officials from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO).
The accident occurred while the child was playing inside a residence. The ACSO stated that the child received an electrical shock from a 220-volt dryer.
The parents took the unconscious child to a hospital at approximately 9:30 p.m. Sadly, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly afterward. No foul play is suspected, and local authorities are investigating the incident.

A 220-volt electrical current is powerful enough to cause serious injury or even death, potentially leading to cardiac arrest.
While dryers are known to cause home fires due to lint blockages and overheating elements, fatalities linked to laundry appliances are rare. In a similar case from 2018, a 10-year-old boy in a Houston-area apartment complex was found dead inside a dryer. The death was determined to be accidental with no signs of injury or foul play.
