Community Support Saves Arizona Doughnut Shop

An Arizona doughnut shop faced closure before support from the community helped secure its future, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. Daniel Tes, the owner, opened The Local Donut in Scottsdale, Arizona, ten years ago. Despite a decade’s success, the recent summer proved challenging.

“Many small businesses encounter difficulties, but this year was particularly tough,” Tes told FOX 10 Phoenix. The shop struggled after the spring training period, leading to a severe summer downturn that impacted their ability to meet payroll obligations.

With financial stress mounting, Tes turned to social media for help from the community. The response was overwhelming. The next day, visitors flooded the shop. This wave of support included not only customers but also local businesses that prepaid for others, showcasing solidarity among small business owners.

“There are many selfless and generous people in the community,” Tes remarked. The support meant a lot to regular customers as well. They expressed relief that the shop overcame its financial hurdles thanks to the community’s generosity.

“The Local Donut offers great options and a friendly atmosphere,” stated Harris Dozier, a regular patron of the shop.

Tes is grateful and inspired to continue serving both doughnuts and community support in the years ahead. He stated, “People are always ready to help out, and I want to pay it forward too.”
