Dallas Cowboys Extend Quinnen Williams with Lucrative Deal

The Dallas Cowboys and veteran defensive tackle Quinnen Williams have reached an agreement on a three-year contract extension ahead of the 2026 NFL season. This deal positions Williams as one of the highest-paid defensive players in the league.

The extension totals $105.9 million, with $101 million guaranteed and $63.35 million guaranteed upon signing. Williams also receives a $31.85 million signing bonus. The defensive tackle has made an impact by appearing in the last four Pro Bowls and was traded to the Cowboys under significant terms from the New York Jets before last season’s deadline.

In a strategic move, the Jets, who were struggling during the season, decided to trade Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner, sending them to the Cowboys and the Indianapolis Colts, respectively. This decision highlighted the Jets’ rebuilding approach, securing a second-round pick in 2026, a first-round pick in 2027, and acquiring defensive tackle Mazi Smith from Dallas.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones emphasized the importance of securing Williams through the 2030 season, identifying him as a cornerstone of their defensive strategy. Williams is now among the elite defensive tackles earning over $30 million annually. This group includes Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeffery Simmons of the Tennessee Titans, and Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Cowboys are not holding back in reinforcing their defense. They signed fellow defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa to a four-year, $80 million extension, cementing his role alongside Williams. The team also strengthened their lineup by acquiring Kenny Clark from the Micah Parsons trade and adding Rashan Gary in free agency, both enhancing the team’s defensive capabilities under head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

During his seven-game stint with the Cowboys last season, Williams recorded 21 combined tackles, 1.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, and nine quarterback hits. Over his career, Williams has amassed 343 combined tackles, including 62 tackles for loss, 41.5 sacks, and eight forced fumbles. His standout 2022 season with the Jets, where he notched 12 sacks, earned him a First Team All-Pro selection.
