Footage from a dash camera has documented the intense crash of a Cessna 177 on the Capitol Expressway in San Jose, California, occurring on Saturday. The single-engine aircraft was seen careening into an overpass above the expressway.

The San Jose Fire Department (SJFD) revealed that the crash resulted in injuries to three people, including a child, who were aboard the plane. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. The department shared the information in a post on X.

“SJFD is on scene of a plane crash in the area of Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Dr.,” the department announced. “Small prop plane down, no vehicles involved. Two adults and one child transported with non-life-threatening injuries out of an abundance of caution. Please avoid the area,” the post stated.

The crash also caused a “minor fuel spill” that was absorbed, according to SJFD.

Authorities from SJFD, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are continuing their investigation into the crash’s cause. No potential cause has been publicly released as of yet, as reported by Fox2 KTVU.

A spokesperson for the San Jose Police Department noted that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the incident. Police officers were present at the scene, examining the wreckage of the Cessna plane.

Fox News Digital has reached out to SJFD, SJPD, the FAA, and the NTSB for additional comments.
