3 weeks ago 0

President Donald Trump attracted significant attention at Madison Square Garden during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The New York Knicks faced off against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night. As the national anthem played, Trump was shown on the large screen above the court.

The crowd’s reaction was mixed. Although some attendees cheered as Trump saluted from his suite, boos were notably louder as the focus shifted back to NYPD officers holding flags on the court.

President Donald Trump observed the start of Game 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 8, 2026, accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai, and Knicks owner James Dolan.

Different from Trump’s previous appearance at the College Football National Championship, fans at Madison Square Garden in New York did not share the same enthusiasm as those in Florida. At Hard Rock Stadium, Trump received enthusiastic cheers.

Trump’s visit to New York featured heightened security measures. A security fence surrounded MSG, and law enforcement implemented strict protocols, leading to extended wait times for attendees.

The NYPD restricted vehicle and pedestrian access in surrounding streets and canceled local watch parties. According to Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, this decision aimed at ensuring security during Trump’s visit. She expressed optimism about reinstating watch parties for Game 4.

There was a contrasting perspective from MSG, which indicated that the local city officials, not Trump’s presence, led to the denial of permits for watch parties.

Throughout his second term, President Trump has attended various major sporting events, including the Super Bowl and Daytona 500.
