Federal authorities have intensified their scrutiny of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., focusing on her immigration history, financial disclosures, and a recent raid on her home. During the investigation, federal agents seized Omar’s cell phone in her Washington, D.C., residence, part of a wider criminal fraud inquiry.
Subpoenas have been issued to over a dozen family members of Omar following the raid. Investigators are exploring whether false information was provided by her family during their immigration to the United States in 1995. Questions center on whether Omar’s stated age on immigration paperwork, which qualified her for citizenship at 17, accurately reflected her actual birth date. Omar became a U.S. citizen in 2000.
These age-related questions surfaced when her congressional staff requested a Minnesota public library to change historical records of her birth year from 1981 to 1982 shortly after she assumed office. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents raided her home in D.C., as confirmed by sources to Fox News Digital.
Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, stands by her, stating she arrived in the U.S. at 12 as a war refugee. He expressed no concerns about the investigation. Authorities are also reviewing documentation submitted by Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, amid allegations that his immigration paperwork contained false statements.
Omar has consistently denied any wrongdoing, arguing that former President Donald Trump has used federal law enforcement to target her politically. Her office released a statement condemning the raid, suggesting that Trump’s rhetoric has only fueled these federal actions against her.
In parallel to the immigration probe, officials are conducting a separate inquiry into Omar’s federal financial disclosures. Notably, this financial investigation is not linked to the raid on her home.
Fox News Digital is attempting to contact Omar’s office for further comment.
