More than 213,500 “Goody King” magnetic construction toys have been recalled across the United States because of ingestion hazards that have led to surgeries for at least two children.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a notice stating that the building cubes in these toys can break or open, releasing the internal magnets. This creates a significant risk of ingestion for children.
The commission warns that ingesting high-powered magnets can cause them to attract each other or other metals inside the digestive system. This may potentially lead to perforations, twisting and/or blocking of the intestines, septicemia, and death.
So far, the Goody King seller, Yi Suen Commerce, has reported that two children swallowed magnets from these toys and required surgery for removal. The Hong Kong-based company is also aware of at least 27 reports of cubes breaking or opening. Consumers with these magnetic toys should stop using them immediately and contact Yi Suen Commerce for a full refund. In an online FAQ section, Goody King states that they will send prepaid shipping labels to customers who register for the recall. Refunds will be issued once the company receives the returned products, and receipts are not necessary.
The CPSC noted that the recalled toys were sold online through Amazon from January 2024 to July 2026. They came in various themes for constructing 3D designs, such as forests, dinosaurs, and unicorns. The products were available in sets of 45, 56, 100, 120, 150, and 300 pieces, with prices ranging from $17 to $50.
