Honoring Fallen Veterans this Memorial Day

Three days later, a journey was made to Virginia Commonwealth University trauma center in Richmond to bring Andy home. An Edinburg funeral home hearse met the family in Richmond. Andy’s commanding officer, holding himself with stoic pride, offered a heartfelt hug that turned into a moment of vulnerability.

The drive back home was emotionally filled, contrary to expectations. Firefighters and civilians paid tribute along the route. At each overpass, American flags were draped with firefighters standing in salute. This tribute demonstrated unity, respect, and honor for Andy and his service.
