A tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening in the south suburbs of Chicago, resulting in the death of a six-month-old boy. The child was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 57 in Harvey.
The crash involved a car carrying eight individuals. Illinois State Police reported that the accident happened around 6 p.m. Among those in the vehicle, seven people sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The infant, whose residence was in Englewood, was declared deceased at Ingalls Memorial Hospital. This information was confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on the same night.
Due to the severity of the incident, authorities had to close northbound lanes of Interstate 57. Additionally, an entrance ramp from 147th street remained shut for approximately five hours to allow for a thorough investigation.
