Gymnast Jordan Chiles has set her sights on returning to the Olympics in 2028, with the games taking place in Los Angeles. This announcement comes from the gold medalist of the Paris Games, conveyed through a special Instagram video augmented by the voice of basketball legend Michael Jordan.
In the video, titled “LA 2028… WHY NOT?”, Chiles showcases the scenic Southern California coastline and a personal moment on the beach. Michael Jordan narrates, saying, “Why again? Because the dream is still there. Why continue? Because there’s still more to give.”
Chiles, now 25, named after the NBA icon, has strong ties to Los Angeles. She studied at UCLA, where she competed for the Bruins’ gymnastics team and achieved four NCAA championships. Her Olympic journey began with a team gold medal at the 2024 Paris Games. However, her individual bronze medal was later revoked due to a contentious ruling, which she is currently appealing.
Previously, Chiles contributed to the United States’ silver medal team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. During those games, she gained attention by stepping in for Simone Biles, who withdrew prior to the finals to focus on her mental health.
The video concludes with Jordan stating, “When the world asks why she’s back for a third time, the answer’s simple.” Chiles confidently responds, “Why not?”
