Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Opens to Public

5 days ago 0

A historic site, hidden beneath the Lincoln Memorial, is opening to the public. The Lincoln Memorial Undercroft, a museum spanning 15,000 square feet, invites visitors to explore a space once closed to the public.

Visitors can view the Emancipation Proclamation and 13th Amendment, both signed by Lincoln. Interactive exhibits highlight civil rights milestones, including Marian Anderson’s 1939 concert and the March on Washington.

To visit, reserve tickets in advance or access walk-up tickets at the Korean War Veterans Memorial kiosk.

The undercroft reflects on how the Lincoln Memorial became a “civic stage” in American history.
