Michael Douglas shares personal stories in his memoir, “One Helluva Ride.” The 82-year-old actor admits to an affair during the filming of his 1992 movie, “Basic Instinct.” Despite rumors of a relationship with co-star Sharon Stone, Douglas reveals his real affair was with Jeanne Tripplehorn, who was nearly two decades younger.

Douglas writes, “The truth is, I fell very hard for Jeanne despite our nearly 20-year age difference. I was crazy about her.” At the time, he was still technically married to his first wife, Diandra Luker, but they were living separate lives. Their divorce was finalized in 2000.

The actor explains that his relationship with Tripplehorn lasted throughout the film’s production but ended after filming concluded. He describes her as a “terrific woman” and a “fantastic actress.” In “Basic Instinct,” Douglas plays detective Nick Curran, drawn in by crime novelist Sharon Stone. Jeanne Tripplehorn stars as police psychologist Dr. Beth Garner, also his lover.

Douglas also admits to another affair, this time with Kathleen Turner on the set of their 1984 movie, “Romancing the Stone.” Both actors previously denied any extramarital relationship, but he now writes they fell for each other during filming. They kept the affair secret to protect Diandra Luker and their son, Cameron.

Douglas says their relationship was more than a brief fling. It developed naturally from their close working environment. They ended the affair after Luker visited the set with Cameron, making it clear they were still married.

After separating from Luker, Douglas married actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000. The couple shares two children, Dylan and Carys. Diandra Luker filed for divorce in 1995, and it was finalized in 2000.
