Netanyahu Celebrates U.S. 250th Anniversary, Highlights U.S.-Israel Alliance

1 hour ago 0

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended warm wishes to the United States on the occasion of its 250th Independence Day. He praised the strong alliance between Israel and America.

As America marks this significant milestone, there is a chance to reflect on foundational values. The values that underpinned the country’s founding stem from Judeo-Christian principles. These concepts of liberty, dignity, justice, and moral responsibility have deep biblical roots that have steered generations of Americans.

An iconic painting from 1818 by John Trumbull shows the Committee of Five—Adams, Livingston, Sherman, Jefferson, and Franklin—presenting their draft of the Declaration of Independence. Such images remind us of the role that biblical teachings have played in shaping the American government. The United States’ three branches of government draw inspiration from the prophet Isaiah’s words: “the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king” (Isaiah 33:22). This foundation is reaffirmed by the motto “In God We Trust” found on the U.S. dollar bill, pointing to the biblical God known to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Israel shares these values, providing another reason to support the nation. The U.S. has enjoyed prosperity by aligning with Israel. As vice president of the Young Leadership affinity group for the Washington, D.C., chapter of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF), Aaron Evans has observed the courage of Israeli defenders firsthand. After the terrorist attacks on October 7, Evans visited Israel, meeting with soldiers and communities deeply affected by the violence. Their resilience and moral commitment were apparent.

Backing Israel should be based on faith, historical ties, and appreciation for the Jewish people’s influence on American values. A recent poll illustrated concerns about declining support among young American Evangelicals for Israel. Only 29% of Evangelicals under 35 view the Jewish people as God’s chosen. This trend poses significant questions about the nation’s historical and biblical foundations.

The principles that have maintained the American republic began with the Jewish ancestors of many of today’s neighbors and friends. Support for Israel has historically paralleled U.S. success. Will this support persist, honoring God’s promise to Israel? Recent meetings, like that between CENTCOM’s Commander Admiral Brad Cooper and Israeli officials, highlight continued strategic collaboration. Such joint efforts reflect the robust partnership aimed at addressing challenges, such as Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

This alliance is based on mutual principles of hope, truth, and freedom. As the U.S. celebrates 250 years of independence, standing with Israel and the broader Jewish community remains vital. The friendship between the two nations is built on shared values and requires active protection. Every generation must choose to preserve freedom through solidarity and vigilance.
