A New York resident, Damon Foy, aged 50, confessed to the brutal murder and dismemberment of his former girlfriend, Alberta Dale, 44, after she ended their relationship. The incident occurred between March 31 and April 1, 2024, and involved placing her severed head in a suitcase with a flower.

Foy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, as confirmed by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office. Dale, originally from Pennsylvania, prompted her family to reach out to law enforcement when they grew concerned for her safety. Authorities began looking into her disappearance on April 1, 2024, eventually leading to Foy’s apprehension.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office initially visited Foy’s apartment, where they discovered Dale’s vehicle. On the following day, courtesy of a tip-off regarding Dale’s abandoned phone, deputies returned for questioning. Upon their arrival, Foy confessed to the murder, stating, “She’s in there,” and later adding, “I killed her.” A search warrant for Foy’s residence led investigators to a suitcase containing Dale’s partial remains.

“Officers opened the defendant’s suitcase and found Alberta Dale’s partial dismembered remains, including her severed head,” stated the court documents.

During a subsequent interrogation, Foy expressed that he “loved her,” yet felt exploited throughout their relationship.

Court records reveal Foy’s history of domestic violence against Dale, including a previous altercation involving a firearm. Dale had previously warned authorities that should she disappear, Foy would be responsible.

Under the terms of a plea deal, Foy is expected to receive a sentence ranging from 23 years to life in prison, a decision influenced by Dale’s family.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Liz Culmone-Mills expressed the deal was facilitated with the support of Dale’s family. Sentencing is scheduled for December 16.

District Attorney Emmanuel C. Nneji emphasized the importance of enhancing protective measures for victims of domestic violence, addressing the need for laws that ensure their safety beyond mere legal rhetoric.
