Confidence in major institutions has dwindled, yet many Americans still endorse the Supreme Court’s decisions. As it approaches a new term, the Court faces challenges in public opinion. Recent studies highlight these trends.
According to a Gallup poll released in July, approval for the Supreme Court has plummeted to 33 percent, marking the lowest point in the poll’s 26-year history. This significant drop reflects a broader decline in institutional trust.
In another study by Marquette Law School, the findings were somewhat less severe. Here, approval ratings stood at 47 percent, while disapproval reached 53 percent. These numbers confirm the growing skepticism towards the Court.
The Supreme Court’s public perception is crucial as it enters a new term. The divergence in polling results underscores varied public attitudes toward the judiciary’s role and decisions.
