SpaceX Rocket’s Unexpected Lunar Collision

A part of a SpaceX rocket, now defunct, is on track to collide with the moon. This marks a rare event where a human-made object will unintentionally impact the lunar surface.

The moon, with its heavily cratered landscape, stands as a testament to numerous impacts it has endured over time. Though this occurrence marks only the second known instance of such an event with a rocket, it highlights the continuing interactions between human technology and celestial bodies.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was launched from the Space Force Station’s Launch Complex 40 located in Cape Canaveral, Florida, on July 21.
